Nowadays it is generally believed that this attribution is wrong and a forgery. The background to this is that in Zhuge's official biography in the official dynastic historySanguozhi 三國志, there is no mention of this book. It is the Song period 宋 (960-1279) scholar Chao Gongwu 晁公武 that officially rated it a forgery of a later date.
In the History of AdministrationWenxian tongkao 文獻通考 from theYuan period元 (1279-1368), the book is called Wuhou shiliu ce 武侯十六策 "Sixteen stratagems of Marquis Wu". And even though its origins are dubious we now find the book in the collected writings of Zhuge Liang, the Zhuge Zhongwuhou wenji 諸葛忠武侯文集.
